A leader's perspective...

After you’ve been travelling in South America for a while you get to the point where, in terms of landscapes at least, superlatives cease to mean anything. And then you get to Bolivia. On the Bolivian Altiplano things start on a high and just keep getting higher. From the capital La Paz (at 3,600m above sea level the highest capital city in the world) to the blinding-white expanse of the salt flats at Uyuni (at 3,700m above sea level the highest – and largest – salt flats in the world) there’s no shortage of highlights in this landlocked country. No shortage of llamas (pronounced yamas) either – there’s said to be around 2 million of these odd (but strangely cute) looking creatures lolloping around the plains.
